What can you use the app for?

DailyStrength helps users find information, answers and assistance with life and health issues and concerns. The site gives users a place to join an online support group. Through the group, users can interact, share suggestions, tips and experiences and learn more about what they or someone close to them is going through. Users can also learn about treatments, therapies and medications. DailyStrength includes answers from experts and health blogs. The user can begin by searching for a specific condition, treatment or advisor on the homepage or by selecting one of the popular support group links. The links include alcoholism, smoking addiction, infertility, cancer, Crohn’s disease, insomnia, pregnancy, breakups and divorce, senior health, depression, anxiety, menopause and many more.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

DailyStrength was launched on 3rd August’ 2006 by three of the internet veterans Doug Hirsch, Josh DeFord and Lars Nilsen. Today, the company has its offices in Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, California and USA. Incidentally had Hirsch decided to start this website in response to his personal difficulties in dealing with an uncertain teenage death in his family.

The website was acquired by HSW International in December of 2008 for over $3 million. The current DailyStrength team consists of approximately 20 individuals, including four medical supervisors.

What are the differences to other apps?

DailyStrength is a large resource that covers a number of common and no as common conditions. Users can learn more about a health condition or find out ways to cope with life problems and obstacles. The site encourages social interactions through support groups that allow users to gain valuable insight through real experiences.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The DailyStrength website invites users with a green and orange color scheme that is complemented by blue and gold. The stylish logo features a circle surrounded by other circles, forming a flower shape to the left of the site name. A light blue navigation bar allows the user to access the support groups, health blogs, expert answers area, treatment information and a member area. The center of the homepage presents the user with three columns of popular support groups while an activity feed is updated along the right hand side.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can join the DailyStrength community by clicking the small blue “Join” link tucked into the upper, right hand corner of the page. The following page presents the user with the registration form (inside the solid orange box). The form asks for a username, password and email address. The user must also check the small box at the bottom of the form to confirm their agreement with the DailyStrength terms and conditions. Users can also choose to click the blue and white Facebook button to the right to sign in with their existing Facebook account.

What does it cost to use the application?

DailyStrength earns its major part of revenues from advertisements displayed on its website. DailyStrength is available to all users for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for using the site. Users can participate in a number of forums and access a wealth of information on many common health conditions and life issues. Users can search the site as often as they like.
